Corewell Health offers drop-off sites and resources

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 20, 2026 – Corewell Health™ and local law enforcement are teaming up once again to collect unused and unwanted prescription medications for safe disposal at five Corewell Health locations in Southeast Michigan.

Collection sites will be available Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at:

  • Corewell Health Wayne Hospital, 33155 Annapolis Road, Wayne
  • Corewell Health Taylor Hospital, 10000 Telegraph Road, Taylor
  • Corewell Health Trenton Hospital, 5450 Fort St., Trenton

Collection sites will be available Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at:

  • Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, 3601 W. 13 Mile Road, Royal Oak
  • Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital Care Center, 44250 Dequindre Road, Sterling Heights

Community members are invited to stop by to dispose of expired prescriptions and other unwanted or unneeded medications. This free and anonymous public service is being held in conjunction with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

“Safe homes start with safe medication storage and disposal,” said Dr. Colleen Lane, medical director of addiction medicine, Corewell Health. “DEA Take Back Day helps reduce the risk of prescription medication misuse or abuse by providing a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused medications.”

The DEA says tablets, capsules, patches and other forms of prescription medications will be accepted at participating Take Back Day sites. Liquid medications may also be accepted when securely sealed in their original containers. Syringes, sharps and illicit drugs will not be collected through the national program.

Nationally, more than 4,400 collection sites are expected to participate in the Oct. 24 event. During the most recent National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in April 2026, 642,410 pounds, or 321 tons, of medications were collected at 4,417 sites. Since the program began in 2010, the DEA has collected more than 21 million pounds of medications.

Additional collection sites and information about the program are available on the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day website.
