Corewell Health Issues Visitor Restrictions Amid Increase in Pediatric Respiratory Illnesses

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 10, 2025—Due to a high number of pediatric admissions and an increase in respiratory illnesses throughout the community, Corewell Health™ will be limiting the number of visitors in pediatric areas at hospitals across Southeast Michigan. Effective immediately, only two people are permitted at the bedside during the day and one person overnight at the following locations:

  • Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital
  • Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital
  • Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital
  • Corewell Health Trenton Hospital
  • Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital
  • Corewell Health Wayne Hospital
  • Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital

These restrictions only apply for patients and birthing mothers on pediatric inpatient units, pediatric ICU, neonatal ICU and birthing and postpartum units at the mentioned hospitals, which remain open and ready to care for patients. People giving birth will be allowed to have one birthing partner and one additional visitor.

To protect yourself and your children from respiratory viruses, experts at Corewell Health recommend:

  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Get vaccinated against influenza, whooping cough, RSV and COVID-19.

In addition, there are new vaccines available for RSV. Talk to your pediatrician, obstetrician or primary care physician for more information.

For more information, visit the flu information center and visitor information pages.
