ST. JOSEPH, Mich., March 19, 2025 –Corewell Health™ Lakeland Hospitals – St. Joseph Hospital is advancing surgical care by acquiring and utilizing the da Vinci 5 (dv5), the latest innovation in robotic-assisted surgical technology.

"Corewell Health remains at the forefront of medical innovation, and we’re thrilled to bring the da Vinci 5 to our community," said Michael Webb, M.D., surgeon at Corewell Health. "This technology offers our patients less invasive operations with quicker recovery times."

The dv5, which arrived at Corewell Health in St. Joseph on March 17 and will assist in its first surgery on March 21, features improved imaging and enhanced precision, meaning smaller incisions during surgery.

Minimally invasive surgery with the dv5 will be used for procedures like hernia repair, gallbladder removal and colon cancer treatment.

Patients throughout the state have access to the dV5 robot at six Corewell Health locations, demonstrating the system’s commitment to investing in advanced medical technologies and its dedication to providing the highest quality of care for its patients.
