Corewell Health Hospitals Earn National Recognition in U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Rankings
William Beaumont University Hospital ranked nationally in five specialties; hospitals across Michigan earn high-performing honors

GRAND RAPIDS and SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 4, 2026 – Corewell Health hospitals have once again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for excellence in patient care, with William Beaumont University Hospital earning national rankings in five adult specialties and hospitals across Southeast, West and Southwest Michigan receiving high-performing ratings for dozens of procedures and conditions.

Nationally Ranked Specialties

William Beaumont University Hospital earned national rankings in the following specialties:

  • #34* Neurology & Neurosurgery
  • #36* Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
  • #41* Diabetes & Endocrinology
  • #45* Urology
  • #50* Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery

In addition, the hospital was ranked No. 1 in Michigan for:

  • Gastroenterology & GI surgery
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Orthopedics

Overall, William Beaumont University Hospital ranked No. 2 among hospitals in Michigan.

Across the health system, Corewell Health hospitals earned 97 high-performing ratings in more than 20 procedures and conditions, demonstrating the organization's commitment to delivering exceptional care close to home.

Southwest Michigan

  • Lakeland Hospitals (St. Joseph, Niles): 5 high-performing ratings

The high-performing designations span a broad range of conditions and procedures, including cancer care, cardiovascular care, orthopedics, neurology, pulmonology, digestive health, kidney care and advanced surgical treatments.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions; less than half earned recognition in any of those 37 areas of care. To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
